Membership and Donations

Your support of the Siuslaw Watershed Council (SWC) is key to our success. Thank you to those who were SWC members in 2011 and before. Your involvement and financial support has moved our work on watershed education, monitoring, and restoration forward.

Here are just some of our accomplishments in 2011:

• Over 3 miles of aquatic habitat has been made accessible and the design developed that will result in another 1.5 miles being opened up to Coho and other aquatic species on three historically problematic culverts
• Local SWC restoration crews maintained more than 152 acres of riparian plantings, advancing future stream shading, filtering of nutrients, and large wood recruitment
• 118 riparian landowners planted more than 11,000 native plants in riparian areas in the Siuslaw Watershed and Coastal Lakes
• More than 450 youth learned about watershed health and restoration in the SWC Camp, a unit of the Mapleton afterschool program, and through collaborations with programs in area schools
• Two new sites were added to the water quality sampling sites, allowing for a more complete picture of basin water quality
• Local contractors and businesses, including heavy equipment operators, surveyors, and nurseries have received business as a result of SWC projects

Our accomplishments listed here and many more are made possible with grant funding and your membership and donations. Your support is important to continuing our success in 2012 and into the future. Donations are deductible to the full extent of the law. We recognize that it has been a difficult few years financially for many people and we appreciate your support during these tough economic times that impact us all. Your donation is especially important as it can be used to develop projects and secure grant funding. Donations can leverage triple their value resulting in restoration, monitoring, or education.
