Strategic Planning Focus Group

SWC is inviting community members to participate in its strategic planning process to help shape our direction over the next five years.

Strategic planning is a critical opportunity for Siuslaw Watershed Council to reflect on what is working well, identify emerging challenges, and clarify priorities for the future. Community input will play a central role in ensuring the plan reflects shared values, responds to community needs within its scope, and positions the organization to make the greatest possible impact.

Community members are invited to participate through a virtual two-hour focus group on Thursday, March 19th from 5:00pm -7:00pm. Feedback gathered during this engagement phase will directly inform the priorities outlined in the organization’s strategic plan.

Participation is open to anyone who cares about the Siuslaw Watershed and Siuslaw Watershed Council’s mission, including program participants, partners, volunteers, donors, neighbors, and community members.

SWC's 2026 Annual Meeting & Potluck

This year's presenters include organizational strategist Christine Rontal with Metamorphic Consulting, who will provide an overview of our 2026 strategic planning process and seek input from attendees; project manager Caleb Mentzer, who will highlight recently implemented restoration projects; and monitoring coordinator Kat Gillies-Rector, who will detail the Siuslaw Coho Partnership's project effectiveness monitoring program.

Join Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) and the Siuslaw Watershed Council (SWC) for a hands-on Trail Restoration Party at the beautiful Sweet Creek Falls!

Together, we’ll restore sections of this beloved trail, improve tread stability, and help maintain one of our region’s most scenic outdoor destinations.

Project Overview:
We’ll be restoring the trail surface using digging tools at a gentle pace, taking time to enjoy the forest surroundings and the sound of the falls. Please plan to participate for the full duration of the event for safety and coordination reasons.

Work Details:

  • Crew Leader: Noelle

  • Max Crew Size: 12 volunteers

  • Hike Distance: 1–2 miles

  • Elevation Gain: ~100 feet

  • Hike Intensity: Moderate

  • Work Intensity: Moderate

  • Work Type: Tread work (digging and resurfacing)

What to Bring:

  • Water and snacks/lunch

  • Work gloves (loaners available)

  • Sunscreen, insect repellent, personal medications

  • A backpack to carry essentials

  • Sturdy, closed-toed boots

  • Long sleeves and pants recommended

  • Rain gear or layers as needed

All tools and personal protective gear (hard hats, gloves, glasses) are provided by TKO.

Registration:
Detailed directions and instructions will be emailed to all, 48 hours before the event.

A morning of mushroom foraging and culinary exploration led by local experts. The event covers identifying and harvesting wild mushrooms, followed by a cooking demonstration.
