Kat grew up in Corvallis, Oregon. She obtained her BS in Fish and Wildlife Management from Oregon State University and MS in Fisheries Resources from the University of Idaho. After grad school Kat spent six years as a fisheries biologist for Idaho Fish and Game before moving back to Oregon to work in the coastal watersheds she grew up recreating and working in.
