Invasive Species Removal Paddling Tour

This event has expired

SWC's August activity is an invasive species removal paddling tour on the Siuslaw River in Mapleton on Saturday, August 20th, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Expert Meg Gerber will lead participants in locating, identifying, and removing purple loosestrife. Participants can determine their paddling distance and length of time based on their level of comfort and ability. Boat launching will be at the Mapleton boat ramp. For those without personal paddlecraft, SWC staff can provide a limited number of kayaks at the launch site if arranged beforehand. Please bring a bag lunch to enjoy during the activity.

If weather or other conditions make it difficult to complete the river survey, a follow-up outing is also possible on the following Saturday, 8/27. Please email oregonpeg@gmail.com for more information.

Registration is only required if participants wish to use SWC paddlecraft for the event. Contact Tim at 317-395-4870 or outreach@siuslaw.org to reserve a kayak (solo or tandem).
